SMP for Alopecia
We know how much our hair can reflect our mood, who you are as a person and sometimes, even how you behave. Something big happens in your life – you change your hair color. A relationship breaks down – you get a haircut. You get a new job – you change your hairstyle altogether. Hey, you’re only human.
So, when your hair begins to fall out in patches or at all at once because of alopecia, the ability to change your style as and when you please is lost.
What is alopecia?
Alopecia is an auto-immune condition resulting in partial or total hair loss and there are several different types. There are many reasons why alopecia may happen to you: genetics, trauma to the scalp, or self-infliction due to specific hairstyles or hair tugging.
Unfortunately, there is no cure for alopecia; however, there is now a solution to help create a new hairline or conceal any bald patches that may have developed.
Scalp micropigmentation (also known as a hair tattoo or SMP) is a form of cosmetic tattooing which could be ultimately life-changing for someone who suffers from alopecia. SMP will help replicate the appearance of a closely shaved head by implanting hundreds of microdots using a natural pigment into the dermis layer (top layer of the skin). We are incredibly proud at Edge Scalp Ink that we offer this outstanding treatment.
SMP is a non-invasive treatment that will not prevent any potential hair growth in the future. As scalp micropigmentation is undetectable, no one can tell you have even had an SMP treatment.
Here at Edge Scalp Ink, we will discuss with you in detail what you want to achieve during your consultation and answer any questions you may have. We want you to leave looking and feeling like the best version of yourself.
SMP may not cure alopecia; however, it may help you heal from the trauma of losing your hair.
