Is SMP The Right Fit for Your Hair Loss Concerns?

Whether you’re dealing with thinning hair, a receding hairline, alopecia, or visible scalp scarring, scalp micropigmentation can create the look of fuller, thicker hair:

SMP For Men

With SMP for men, we recreate the appearance of a closely shaved head, strengthen the look of a fading hairline, or add the illusion of density through thinning areas.

SMP For Women

SMP for women can reduce the contrast between your hair and scalp, making thinning along the part, crown, temples, or hairline appear softer and fuller.

SMP For Alopecia

SMP for alopecia can mask hair loss caused by alopecia areata, alopecia totalis, alopecia universalis, or other forms of diffuse thinning, creating the look of more even scalp coverage and natural density.

SMP For Scar Camouflage

We use SMP for scar camouflage to minimize the look of scars from hair transplants, injuries, or past procedures less noticeable by blending lighter scar tissue with the surrounding scalp.

“My SMP looks natural, fits ME perfectly, and has given me a new level of confidence.”

Pricing and Financing Options for Your Hair Tattoo

Your SMP cost may vary depending on the size of the treatment area, your hair loss pattern, and how much coverage is needed. We’ll give you a clear quote during your consultation.

A $400 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your appointments, and we typically divide the remaining balance between your first two sessions.

We also offer financing plans through Cherry for eligible clients, so you can pay off your hair tattoo over time starting at $80 per month. The application and approval process are quick, making your SMP treatments more accessible than ever.

How We Keep Your Results Natural and Realistic

line
  1. Consultation & Hairline Planning: We assess your hair loss, facial structure, and desired look so we can map out a hairline that looks flattering and appropriate for you.
  2. Custom Pigment Matching: We choose your pigment to complement your natural hair shade and skin tone, helping each tiny impression blend smoothly with your existing hair and scalp.
  3. Layered Application Sessions: Most SMP treatments are completed across 2–3 appointments. With each session, we build soft, gradual coverage to prevent a flat or “blocky” result.
  4. Refinement & Adjustments: As your treatment progresses, we adjust the density, shape, and finish to keep your final look clean and realistic.
  5. Aftercare & Maintenance: We’ll walk you through simple aftercare steps to protect your scalp as it heals. Touch-ups can help you maintain your results as they naturally fade over the next 3–5 years.

Aftercare Guidelines to Preserve Your New Ink

After your SMP session, we’ll give you simple aftercare instructions to help the pigment settle properly and keep your results looking sharp.

During the first few days after treatment:

  • Keep the treated area dry for the first 4 days.
  • Do not scratch, rub, or pick at your scalp.
  • Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and direct heat.
  • Skip heavy exercise, saunas, steam rooms, and activities that cause sweating.
  • Avoid using sunscreen, moisturizers, styling products, and topical treatments on your scalp.

As your scalp heals over the next few weeks:

  • After day 4, wash gently with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser.
  • Pat your scalp dry or let it air dry instead of using heat.
  • Leave any light flaking alone and allow it to shed naturally.
  • Use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer once your artist says it is okay.
  • Apply SPF 30+ regularly to prevent your pigment from fading.

Possible side effects:

  • Mild redness or sensitivity
  • Slight swelling around the treated area
  • Temporary dryness or flaking
  • Pigment that looks darker at first before softening as it heals

Your Results Timeline

line

Your SMP results will look slightly different as your scalp heals, the pigment softens, and each layer settles into the skin.

Here’s what you can expect after treatment:

  • Immediately After Treatment: Your results may look darker, sharper, and more intense at first, and slight redness around the treated area is normal for the first 24–72 hours.
  • Days 1–4: Your scalp is in the early healing stage, so keep it dry, avoid sweating, and protect the area while the pigment begins to settle.
  • Days 5–7: You can usually begin gentle washing during this window, though your SMP may still look a bit more defined than the final result.
  • Weeks 2–3: Minor flaking or dryness can happen as the skin heals, and the pigment will begin to soften into a more natural-looking finish.
  • Weeks 4–6: Your healed result becomes clearer, and we can determine whether a follow-up visit is needed to add density, adjust the hairline, or refine small details.
  • Long Term (3–5 Years): SMP naturally fades over time, especially with sun exposure, so occasional touch-ups can keep your results looking fresh and realistic.

Clear Answers Before You Book

Are there any potential risks or complications with SMP?

Scalp micropigmentation is generally considered a safe procedure when performed by experienced SMP practitioners like our master artists.

You may experience temporary redness, tenderness, or mild swelling after treatment, but these effects typically resolve within a few days.

Does the scalp micropigmentation procedure hurt?

Most clients find SMP very tolerable and describe the feeling as light scratching or minor irritation as opposed to pain. Sensitivity can vary depending on the treatment area and your personal comfort level.

What factors should I consider before undergoing SMP?

Before deciding on SMP, consider:

  • Your hair loss pattern
  • Your desired hairline style
  • Your skin type
  • How do you prefer to wear your hair

During your consultation, we’ll evaluate your scalp and determine the best approach for your specific needs.

Is scalp micropigmentation a worthwhile investment?

For many people, SMP offers a long-lasting solution for addressing hair loss without surgery, medications, or daily concealment products. Results can last for years with only occasional maintenance, so it’s a cost-effective solution over time.

Can a tattoo parlor perform scalp micropigmentation treatment?

No, SMP requires specialized equipment, pigments, and training focused specifically on the scalp and hair loss patterns. It’s important to work with an artist who specializes in scalp micropigmentation for the most natural-looking and realistic outcome.
